Lucky Rainbow Series

작가는 서울에서 태어났는데 어렸을적에 물과 빛을 통해 자연적인 무지개를 발견하는데에 행운이라 느끼며 행복을 찾았는데 자주 놀러가던 하와이와 유학시절을 보낸 미국 뉴저지와 텍사스에서 발견한 가장 크고 색상이 다채롭던 무지개가 기억에 남아 자연적인 아름다움을 담고자 했다. 공중에 떠 있는 물방울들이 햇빛을 받아 나타나는 반원형의 일곱 빛깔 줄을 우리는 무지개라 부른다. 이는 맑은 정신과 순수함과 행운을 뜻한다. 무지개는 현대 사회에서 다양한 의미를 부여하지만,  작가는 어릴적 순수함을 사람들이 잃지 않으며 원본적인 의미를 잃지 않고 미래를 도모하며 발전해 나가기를 기원하기에 무지개에 영감을 받았다. 무지개는 보통 신비스러움을 보여주는 데 이는 자연의 아름다움으로 통용한다. 자연이 주는 무한한 아름다움에 우리는 맑은 정신을 일깨워 natural phenomenon을 존중하고 conscious 한 선택을 상시 택해야 한다고 알리고자한다. 이런 작은 선택들이 모여 자연, 곧 우리 자신, 우리 모두를 위하는 세상으로 바꿀 수 있다고 믿는다.

As a child born in Seoul, South Korea, the artist felt lucky and found happiness in discovering natural rainbows through water and light. She remembered the largest and most colorful rainbows she found in Hawaii, where she often visited, and in New Jersey and Texas, where she studied abroad. She wanted to capture the beauty of natural phenomena. The semicircular line of seven colors that appears when water droplets floating in the air catch sunlight is what we call a rainbow. This represents clear mind, purity, and luck. Rainbows have various meanings in modern society, but the artist was inspired by rainbows because she hopes that people will not lose their childhood innocence and that they will develop and pursue the future without losing their original meaning, the purpose. Rainbows usually show mystery, which is often considered natural beauty, the natural phenomena. We want to awaken a clear mind through the infinite beauty that nature provides, and inform people that we must respect natural phenomena and always make conscious choices. I believe that these small choices can come together to change the world into a world that is better for nature, for ourselves, and for all of us.
